Mark Cuban Cleared as Court Dismisses Voyager Digital Investor Lawsuit
A US federal judge dismissed a class-action lawsuit against billionaire Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks, ruling the court lacked jurisdiction over the case. The plaintiffs, former Voyager Digital customers, failed to establish that Cuban or the Mavericks conducted business in Florida, where the suit was filed.
The lawsuit stemmed from Voyager Digital's 2022 bankruptcy, which left customers unable to access roughly $1.3 billion in crypto assets. Judge Roy K. Altman's decision followed extensive discovery and multiple amended complaints, none of which met the legal threshold for jurisdiction.
Voyager's collapse, triggered by market volatility and loan defaults, sparked widespread litigation. The ruling marks a significant victory for Cuban and the Mavericks, who faced allegations of misleading promotions tied to the failed crypto platform.
